At Redwood Bank our people are firmly at the heart of everything we do. We understand that when you, our customers, work with us, you want the personal relationship to enable quick decision making and flexible solutions. This is why we’ve taken some time out to speak to the people that power Redwood Bank.
Emma Drew, Compliance Manager
Emma joined Redwood in June 2017 as Compliance Manager, having spent her career to date in financial services.
Tell us more about your role at Redwood Bank?
Working in compliance is all about striking a balance. You want to facilitate the ideas and initiatives which the business wants to implement, but also need to ensure compliance with the rules and regulations which we must abide by. Therefore, you need to have good working relationships and be able to decipher and then explain complex legislation in a way that can be understood by all audiences.
What’s the best bit about working at Redwood?
I would have to say it’s the people I get to work with. There is an overwhelming sense of community at Redwood and, because of that, I genuinely enjoy coming to work every day. By being a new bank, you get the opportunity to sculpt it from the beginning, you’re not trying to re-shape something which has already been put into place.
What’s been your proudest moment to date?
It makes me extremely proud to have been a part of the Bank from the early stages; to see it grow and expand and to be part of that is such a great feeling.
If you weren’t doing this, you’d be…
That’s a really good question and one I’ve not actually thought about. If I was pushed, I’d probably be working with animals in some way, at a zoo or sanctuary of some sort, that would be a dream job and if it’s in a hot country, even better!
