At Redwood Bank, our people are firmly at the heart of everything we do. We understand that when you, our customers, work with us, you want and expect a personal relationship to enable quick decision making and flexible solutions. This is why we’ve taken some time out to speak to the people that power Redwood Bank.
Thea Puckey, Banking Operations Officer
A Harry Potter-loving bookworm, Thea has been with Redwood Bank since 2019, working as a Banking Operations Officer. Having initially studied sport and science at university, she never dreamed she would end up working in the banking world, but has found her career path both fulfilling and challenging. Here, the multi-tattooed, Michael McIntyre fan explains why she no longer needs an alarm clock and what has made her proud in her work.
What gets you out of bed in the morning?
Just my good old fashioned body clock which won’t ever let me sleep past 9.30am. I think my internal alarm clock knows I don’t have time for more sleep, as I have so much that I need to do in one day.
If you weren’t doing this what would you be doing?
Seeing as I have a degree in sport and exercise science, I think if I hadn’t gone into banking, I would probably be doing something in that sector. Redwood is a completely different path to what I studied for, but it has really expanded my knowledge in banking and finance.
What has been your proudest achievement with Redwood to date?
I’ve been told by customers that we’re such a friendly Bank and that we go above and beyond to look after them. Personally, I’m very proud of the fact that I’ve been able to learn a whole new set of skills, which has boosted my confidence.
What is the one thing you know now about banking that you did not know three years ago?
Well, that’s an easy one for me. Because I was brand new to the banking industry, absolutely everything I’ve learnt has been new and valuable. Working within the banking sector is really fulfilling and I enjoy it. For anyone who is considering a career in finance I would tell them to be prepared to work flexibly and commit fully to everything that you do. At Redwood we aim to ensure that everything is as good as it can be, so that does involve a lot of extra hours and hard work.
Tell us something about you we don’t know please?
I am half Norwegian on my mum’s side, I have multiple tattoos and I am a massive Harry Potter fan.
What three people, dead or alive, would you invite to your ultimate dinner party?
Mo Farah, David Attenborough, Michael McIntyre
