Redwood Bank’s support for the community takes many forms, and one recent initiative has seen the Bank supporting a junior kart racer.
The Bank has again this year backed Jack McGillicuddy, 14, with £500 towards his expenses to compete in Indikart at Hooton Park in Ellesmere Port.
As a result, Jack proudly displays the Redwood logo on the side of his trailer, kart and helmet as he reaches speeds of up to 70mph.
Jack’s latest outdoor kart race at Ellesmere Port was broadcast on Sky TV and online on April 20, with eagle-eyed viewers able to spot the Redwood logo.
Jack’s mum Joanne said: “It is a great sport and is teaching him skills in learning the mechanics of maintaining and repairing his kart. As the junior karts can achieve speeds of up to 70 miles per hour, it also requires discipline and courage – and, unfortunately, deep pockets!
“Jack practises as much as he can. We regularly travel to tracks within a couple of hours’ drive to get him used to the different types of tracks.
“He is doing really well and improving all the time with practice and tuition. As a family, we get a lot of enjoyment from the sport.
“We are so grateful for the support from Redwood for Jack’s passion.”
Chris Finnigan, Head of Business Development (North), said: “Grassroots and youth sport is important to so many people and helping give talented prospects like Jack what they need to thrive is what we’re all about.
“We’re thrilled to be seeing him do so well and we have no doubt he will continue to deliver out there on the track.”
