The Bank selected PoetsIN as one of its two official charities of the year in 2022. It has been so impressed with the work the charity does that it has pledged to keep up its funding this year.
The charity was founded by Hertfordshire-based writer Paul Chambers and Cambridgeshire-based poet Sammie Adams. It provides creative mental health programmes to help reduce the symptoms of mental illness with services including the flagship Creative Mental Health Programme™, a Buddy Service™ and one-to-one services with the aim of spreading ‘INspiring, INclusive and INformative’ messages.
Graham Reynolds, Redwood Bank’s Director of Sustainability said: “We are delighted to be able to continue our support for PoetsIN. Mental health is an issue that can affect any one of us at different times in our lives, and we believe that it is essential to support charities like PoetsIN that are doing such important work in this area.
“Our donation will help them to continue to make a real difference to the lives of those who are struggling with mental health issues.”
Throughout the year PoetsIN will be providing key services to Redwood’s employees, including mental health training for managers, workshops, drop-in sessions and a monthly wellbeing newsletter.
“We believe it’s not just important for us to support the charity to further its work in the community, but to bring it closer to home as well. We want all our colleagues to feel fully supported if they have any mental health concerns, however small they may seem, and our partnership with PoetsIN will make it easier for them to access the help they need.”
Sammie Adams, Co-Founder of PoetsIN, said: “We are incredibly grateful to Redwood Bank for their continued support. This donation has made a real difference to the work that we do.”
Around 40 people have benefited from the charity as a direct result of Redwood’s donation. Sammie said that some of the money had helped support an individual whose mental health had given cause for concern. They provided a six-week Creative Mental Health Programme™ along with the Buddy Service which have subsequently reduced risk and changed their life for the better.
“We believe that everyone should have access to mental health resources, and with the support of companies like Redwood Bank, we can make this a reality."
