Working with Redwood Bank

Our preference is for customers to work with a commercial mortgage broker when exploring their property finance options. This page explains how to find a broker and highlights some of the ways they can support your business.

A commercial mortgage broker will review your funding requirements, assess the options available and, where appropriate, prepare and submit your application to Redwood Bank on your behalf. Brokers can also introduce you to other lenders if they believe an alternative solution may better meet your needs. Their expertise can help simplify the process and help you find a finance solution that is suitable for your business circumstances.

Working with Redwood Bank

Why use a broker?

A commercial mortgage broker acts as a link between businesses and commercial mortgage lenders such as Redwood Bank. Instead of approaching one lender directly, a broker can introduce your enquiry to a range of lenders across the market. They will review your needs and help to identify the best borrowing solutions for your business.

Brokers typically:

• Discuss your requirements and objectives

• Present your case to one or more lenders

• Help gather and organise supporting information

• Act as a point of contact during the application process

The decision to offer a loan is made by the lender, and your lending agreement will be between you and the lender directly.

You may pay a fee directly to your commercial mortgage broker for their advice and/or they may receive a procuration fee from the lender once your loan has drawn down.

What does a broker do?

Different lenders offer different products, structures and criteria. Brokers often have an overview of the market and established relationships with lenders.

This means they may be able to:

• Introduce you to lenders you may not have contacted yourself

• Identify options that align with your requirements

• Support enquiries across specialist areas such as property finance or business savings

A broker supports your application through the whole process

A broker may remain involved throughout your enquiry and application. This can help with:

• Managing communication with lenders

• Responding to requests for information

• Keeping your enquiry progressing

This provides additional support alongside your direct interaction with the lender.
