Colleagues from a specialist bank in Hertfordshire swapped their calculators for running shoes to take part in a charity event raising vital funds for a community initiative.
Around 20 runners from Redwood Bank tackled distances ranging from 5k to 20 miles, with the shared goal of raising £5,000 to support the formation of a new Skills Matching Hub within the Hertfordshire Community Foundation.
The team was led by Rhia Botha, director of treasury and ALM at Redwood, who organised the group and kept spirits high throughout the event. Keylogo and GEM Print also provided custom running vests and a vibrant event banner, ensuring the team ran with pride.
Rhia said: “We all ran as part of the Bedford Running Festival so everyone could choose the distance that best suited them. It was a great weekend with a wonderful atmosphere and I am delighted that we are already more than halfway to achieving our fundraising goal.”
The Hub will connect local businesses and professionals with voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations in need of support, creating long-lasting impact across Hertfordshire.
The Hub aims to provide:
Access to professional services which might otherwise be inaccessible to them.
Support to improve organisational effectiveness or strengthen leadership capability.
Ability to grow organisational capacity to improve or extend support to their beneficiaries.
Opportunity to expand networks by making contacts with local businesses.
Rhia continued “So many great charitable organisations across Hertfordshire simply don’t have the money to be able to afford professional services. Creating this Hub will make a huge difference, giving them access to expertise they would otherwise miss out on. It means they can focus on doing what they do best – supporting people in our communities – while knowing they have the right guidance and networks behind them.
“I am incredibly proud of the Redwood team for lacing up their trainers and getting involved. Every mile we ran takes us a step closer to making the Hub a reality and strengthening the support available across the county.”
