Boost for padel as Bank announced as sponsor for new event

Redwood Bank has been named as a lead sponsor for a new padel tournament that aims to support the growth of the sport and prepare leading players for a potential Olympic appearance.

R3 Sport, a sports, media and entertainment group, has launched the Bullpadel Cup in partnership with Bullpadel Spain, and Redwood has been quick to get involved.

Redwood Bank CEO and Co-Founder Gary Wilkinson said: “Padel is one of the fastest-growing sports in the UK and we’re thrilled to be part of its journey. Sponsoring the Cup isn’t just about the tournament, it's about fuelling the passion, competition and community that makes this sport so exciting.

“We look forward to seeing the tournament thrive and for padel to reach new heights.”

Not only will the event promote this developing sport, but it will offer the most prize money ever paid for a padel competition in the UK.

R3 Bullpadel Cup 2025 is keen to create padel stars of the future and help to build a GB team that could compete in the 2032 Olympics in Brisbane, if the sport is added to the programme.

The sponsorship by Redwood reflects its entrepreneurial spirit and support for padel, a doubles-only variant of tennis played on an enclosed court, using solid rackets and underhand serves. The sport is known for being accessible, easy to learn and a good workout.

As well as financial support, the Bank will provide all players in the tournament with branded thermal water bottles to use as they showcase their skills.

The R3 Bullpadel Cup 2025 will promote the sport in the UK across men, women and juniors with the aim of boosting padel’s profile in the country. It’s the latest development in the sport’s adoption in the UK, where there are now 200,000 registered players and over 700 padel courts.

Sam Kemp, Managing Director of Operations, Tournaments and Events of R3 Sport, said: “The R3 Bullpadel Cup is a vitally important step for the development of our future professional players and of the sport more broadly. It is great to have the support of Redwood Bank as a sponsor as we work to ensure the Cup is a massive success.”

The cup will be played over a maximum of six events, delivered in conjunction with the Lawn Tennis Association and International Padel Federation culminating with the finals in December alongside the launch of the R3 Bullpadel Super League for 2026.
