Please join us in welcoming Simon Goodyear to Redwood Bank as our new Chief Information and Technology Officer (CITO).
Simon will be shaping both how we use technology internally (our systems, tools, networks and cybersecurity) and how we use technology externally to enhance our customer experience.
In short: he’s here to make tech work harder for us – so we don’t have to.
Simon’s career spans several senior roles in financial services, and he’s known for his forward-looking, practical approach to solving problems with technology. His focus at Redwood will include:
Simon is passionate about ensuring that technology enhances, not replaces, Redwood’s core strengths. “Manual underwriting is at the heart of what Redwood does, and it’s a perfect example of where human value matters. My job is to improve everything around it so underwriters can focus on doing what they do best,” he says.
He also emphasises creating a “culture of curiosity” within his team and across the bank. “I want to encourage people to ask questions, challenge the status quo and explore new ideas. When people are curious and engaged, that’s when innovation really happens.”
Outside of work, Simon lives in Swindon with his wife, two children, several pets and a calendar full of rugby training. A lifelong fan and former player himself, he now coaches both his daughter’s and son’s youth teams, and even dreams of playing a father-son match before time catches up.
On his office wall, you’ll find a bold piece of art with a subtle message: “JFDI” (Just… you know… Do It). It’s a daily reminder from his wife to stay bold, decisive and focused.
Simon’s energy, humour and passion for smart solutions make him a great addition to the Redwood family. Be sure to say hello and ask him about his summer touch rugby training sessions or his world travels speaking at tech conferences – he’s got some great stories to share.
Welcome aboard, Simon!
