Young people in Warrington are set to benefit from enhanced support, safe spaces and new opportunities thanks to a specialist bank’s contribution to a fundraising challenge designed to strengthen essential youth services across the region.
Redwood Bank raised the highest amount of any organisation taking part in the Warrington Youth Zone’s Seed Fund Challenge. Running throughout October and November, the initiative encouraged local organisations to raise as much as possible to support vital services for young people aged seven to 19, and up to 25 for those with additional needs.
The Warrington-based bank raised £809.41 as part of the challenge, contributing to an overall total of £2,167. Every donation will go directly towards helping the Warrington Youth Zone continue to provide safe, inspiring spaces and life-changing opportunities for young people.
Thanks to the funds raised, the Youth Zone has been able to:
Support 4,203 young people, who collectively visited the Youth Zone 46,736 times
Provide additional support for 1,009 young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities
Offer employability mentoring to 18 young people not in education, employment or training
Support 426 young people to access Youth in Mind, its mental health service
Provide 20,098 free meals for Warrington’s most vulnerable young people
As a result of accessing the Youth Zone’s services, 71 per cent of young people said their social skills had improved, while 80 per cent reported increased self-confidence.
In addition to fundraising, Redwood Bank also supported the charity by delivering voluntary financial literacy and employability workshops for vulnerable young people, as well as providing opportunities for young people to attend Warrington Wolves matches.
Alex John, Redwood ESG Manager, said: “We’re incredibly proud of the creativity, teamwork and generosity shown in support of such an important cause.
“Last year was challenging for charities across the country and Warrington Youth Zone was no exception. During a period of uncertainty, we were determined to step forward and play our part in ensuring young people from every corner of Warrington can continue to benefit from outstanding facilities and the daily guidance of dedicated youth workers. We look forward to continuing our support in 2026 and are delighted to display our Seed Fund Challenge trophy in our offices.”
